This hands on two-day intensive workshop provides physicians contemplating a career change an informed plan to follow in making a transition to a non-clinical career.

Faculty: William S. Frank, M.A., is the country's leading authority on non-clinical careers for physicians. In 1978 he founded CareerLab�, a human resources consulting firm specializing in career management, executive coaching, leadership development, and outplacement. CareerLab� has consulted to more than 300 corporations, including the American Cancer Society, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, CIBA Vision, Columbia/HCA, GAMBRO Healthcare, Kaiser Permanente, LifeCare, Medtronic HemoTec, MGMA, Penn State College of Medicine, and Sunrise Healthcare. In 1998 he met Dr. Lorne Weeks, and founded a subspecialty practice called "The Physician Career Network,"� which became the go-to authority for MDs wanting to improve their careers. PCN has had physician clients in all practice specialties, from anesthesiology to urology. Bill has been featured in "The Physician Executive," "Physician Practice Options," "Physician Financial News," and "Unique Opportunities: �The Physicians's Resource." He authored three best-selling career books and has written for business publications and newspapers, from The Wall Street Journal's "National Business Employment Weekly," and Forbes.com to The Denver Post and Rocky Mountain News, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Bill earned a B.A. in Liberal Arts (1968) and an M.A. in Philosophy (1969) from Colorado State University.

The leaders will describe six paper and pencil exercises to improve your self-knowledge: 1) Autobiography, 2) Likes & Dislikes, 3) Timeline, 4) 16-Square Grid, 5) Career Blueprint, and 6) Ideal First Month on the New Job.
They will present an overview of resumes and cover letters, marketing through professional organizations, informational interviews, and networking. You'll learn to set a realistic time frame for a career transition, and the group will identify the costs and expenses associated with a career move. The leaders will suggest a strategy for overcoming age discrimination. Participants will complete a quiz to quantify how difficult their change might be. Questions and Answers

3:45 - 4:30 Finalizing Your Action Plan Your action plan is a two-page document detailing your to-dos for the next year. Throughout the course you will be adding to the plan, so that by the end of the second day, you will have a roadmap and clear direction for the future.
During this module you will review the action plan you have created during the program, and talk with others in the group to fill in the missing pieces. You will present your plan to the group and make last-minute corrections. The group will give you additional ideas, as well as support and encouragement to move forward. This action plan will be your roadmap to success and happiness in the years to come.
